Dear Fellow Kytherians, My husband and I are finally taking our dream vacation to Greece. We will visit Kythera one full day while on a Variety Cruise on Tuesday, Sept 27, and then we'll return on our own Friday, Sept 30- Sun. Oct 2. My grandfather, Spyridon George Stratigos, was born in Melopotamos in 1886, He and his brother John moved to the US while teens. My husband keeps geneological records for our families and is interested in additional research while we are there. We would love to meet a fellow STRATIGOS, but are also interested in general information about the island. If you have any leads, suggestions or advice, or are willing to chat for a bit while we are there, we'd love to hear from you. Thanks, Diana Stratigos Garvey Hudson, OH USA
Hello fellow Kytherians.........My family are descendents of Cleopatra Stratigos and George Korones of Kythira...If ou know us or are related I would like to hear from you!!!
My older brother Stephen has already put an entry here (8.9.2003). We also have another brother Peter who also lives in Queensland just north of Brisbane. I went to Kythera in 1991 and met some of our relatives, which was very exciting for me. Our father Stephen Cyril (1914-1989) was the third child of Peter (Panayiotis)Stratigos who came to Australia in the early 1900s. He and his wife Ada's other two children were Anthony John (1908-1992) and Irene Francis (b. 1911).
My father was George Stratigos, born to Peter and Eleni Stratigos from Mylopotamos. He came to the US in 1918. My mother was Triantafilia Kontos, born to George and Eleni Kontos from Areous. She came to the US in 1954. I have many first and second cousins here in New York (Long Island). I am married to Robert Formont and we have two children, Nicholas and George.
My father was Peter (Panyoitois) Poteris from Mylopotamos. Dad came to Australia when he was 16 around 1937. He already had brothers here in Toowoomba and he joined them. Dad died in 2000 aged approx 80 - we never knew exactly how old. His brothers were Theo Nicholas Harry Manuel Bill and sisters - Annazena and Rene. Uncle Bill is the only one left living and lives in Brisbane. Thanks, Anna
I love this site. My father Peter Karides is one of 13 Karides family members. I am the oldest with my wonderful sister Annie(Karides)Versis. My father is the son of Phillip Karides and I have been building a family tree for my fathers side but it is very difficult because so few are left. Love to all.
My father was Spyridon George Stratigos, born to George S. Stratigos, and Kierani (karides) in 1886. I had one brother George, and cousins, William, Kierani, Liberty, and George, children of my uncle Peter Stratigos in Chicago, and Uncle Theodore and wife with children George, Spyridon, Cosmas amd Kierani in Greece
I shared a grandfather with Peter Stratigos [entry 08.09.03]. Another of his many brothers went to France & we are very happy to have met up in recent years with our French cousins Jean Marie & Nicolas Stratigos
My mother, Marouli Vlahogenis, is one of 7 children of Margarita and Andreas Vlahogenis who was born and raised in Kythera. She arrived in Australia in 1963 to join her siblings, Vassilis, Kosta and Ourania.
I am 1 of 5 children who were born and raised in Kythera. I married "William Strategos" in 1957 and moved to the USA in 1960, while my 3 brothers moved to Australia and my sister remained in Mylopotamos.
My mother and father "Pothety and Pete Stratigos" came to Chicago in the 1920's and I am 1 of 5 children all of whom were born in Chicago and raised in Mylopotamos and Athens.
My grandfather, Emmanuel came with his family ( father James and mother Stephanie) to Boston in 1912.
My grandfather came to Australia in 1907. His name was Peter (Panayotis) and his father's name was John (Yannis). He was a priest and his wife name was Kyrani. He also taught English at a school there.
