Modeart Beauty Parlor ad in 1940 USA Greek Newspaper

Evangeline Alfieris, daughter of Yiannis and Maria Chlentzos Alfieris, owned and operated a beauty parlor in San Francisco in the early 1940's.
This ad was placed in the "PROMETHEUS", Hellenic National Journal, Oct. 3, 1940

The ad reads:

Marriage Certificate of Vrettos Alfieris & Marigo Theodorakakis (Cordato)

Vrettos Alfieris (1890-1974) & Marigo Theodorakakis (1895-1961) married in Dubbo, Australia on August 4, 1922.

The kombaro was Evangelos (Bylos) Chlentzos

WWII Service Certificate - George Peter Vamvakaris (1907-1942)

George was the son of Panayiotis and Maria Alfieris Vamvakaris (1887-1960). from Potamos.
George was killed in World War II while serving in the Australian Army.

Cytherian Brotherhood of the Western United States By-Laws 1950

This is the front cover of the By-Laws of the Cytherian Brotherhood-GENERAL KORONAIOS 1950, along with the first and last pages of the booklet. The last page shows the names first board of directors. Listed among them is my grandfather John Alfieris (Potamos) and his son Harry Alfieris.

Andonis Pentopoulos' steamship ticket to Australia (1928)

At sixteen years of age Andonis Pentopoulos left Kythera and migrated to Australia. He had hardly ever even been outside of his village when he set out on his first journey abroad.

Andonis had been sponsored by his uncles Theodore and Nikolas Marcellos, who were already living in Australia. They loaned him the money for his passage and guaranteed him three years work in their restaurant and bakery in Griffith, N.S.W.

It took him three years to pay off his ticket, and ...
