The Easts Group, incorporating Easts Leagues club and the Sydney Roosters, has lodged a $100 million proposal to redevelop the Waverley Bowling Club into the new home for the Roosters with plans for two 10-storey residential towers atop a new licensed club, function centre and gym, administrative offices, a childcare centre, and a swimming pool for use as a school.

The Venardos family, who have conducted the Central Cafe in Blackhall for many years, will be leaving there shortly for Nambour, where they have purchased a picture theatre and dance hall. These are the Vogue Theatre and Diggers Hall, which are adjacent.

The purchase price is not disclosed but it is understood to be a large figure.

The Honourable George Souris, NSW Minister for Tourism and the Arts

speaking at the launch of the Roxy Greek Museum, Bingara.

Of Karavas and Kytherian descent, George Souris was born in Gunnedah and “brought up in very similar circumstances to what we are celebrating here tonight”.

He congratulated the Gwydir Shire Council and Roxy Greek Museum Committee on completing the museum. “It is a significant project celebrating the Greek community pioneering cultural and economic achievements in regional New South Wales.

Designated as a Fish & Oyster Saloon Confectioner & Fruiterers.

Owned by Theo and Peter Crithary. (Theo is almost certainly the prominent figure in the centre of this photograph).

To be confirmed are the other 3 adults and two young boys in the photograph.

They may include - Leonidas Gengos, Nicholas P Aroney, Spiro Coroneos, Theo George Poulos, Michael (Tzortzo)Poulos,Theo (Tzortzo)Poulos.

George and Eva share a common ancestor - the famous Minna Tzortzopoulos, long serving priest of Ayios Haralambos church, Karavas, Kythera.

Gunnedah, NSW. 1940's.

Theothosios Koroneos - Theo Corones - was sponsored to Australia, as a youth, by his maternal uncle George, and aunty Georgia, later of Beverley Hills.

He lost a leg to an infection in his late twenties, a few years after this photograph was taken.

Part of his rehabilitation involved art therapy. He later became quite a famous artist in "Kytherian" circles.

He settled in Sydney, and drove cabs for many decades, ...

Chris Coroneos (Christoforos Dimitriou Coroneos) Melasofaos married Melba Comino (Melpomeni Kosmas Kominos) in Goulburn, NSW, on the 3rd July, 1924. Soon after they moved to the small town of Gunning, in southern NSW.

From about the end of WWII, until mid-1975 - Gilgandra, population, 2,900 - was a very Kytherian town.

5 families - the Pentes, Sklavos, Kelly (Yiannakellis), Psaltis (Protopsaltis), and Poulos (Tzortzopoulos) - lived in close proximity to each other - culturally, residentially, and commercially.
