Byzantine Icon

This Byzantine icon of the Panaghia with Christ is presently on display at the magnificent Museum of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Art of Kythera in Kato Livadi. According to the museum's website, it is a portable icon from the Castle of Mylopotamos, probably owned by a Venetian official. It is thought to date back to the middle of the 17th century and is an icon influenced by the Cretan School.
