The pirate Barbarossa, Barbary pirate, (b.(c.)1470 - died 1546), is neither legendary nor mythical. He was a "real" pirate with a real history - who really did slaughter a great number of Kytherians.

In the Kytherian imagination however - he has attained a mythical reputation.
