I went in search of the old cafes in Tenterfield last weekend. Sadly, all evidence of the Cameo Cafe and the Monterey Cafe have been erased from the streetscape of this delightful country town. But the Paragon Cafe, while it is now a dress shop and has lost all its original fittings, still bears its name in small black and white tiles across the door step. I met the proprietor as she was opening up for the day and took a lovely photo of her sweeping the entry with the old cafe name sparkling in the early morning sunlight.
