Picture: Kristina Williamson speaking to those at the reception and exhibition of her photos.

She spoke for a few minutes explaining that she was attracted to Kythera because of the island's loss of so many young people through emigration.

Ms. Williamson said that the population declined from as much as 20,000 to roughly 3,000 in recent years, with most people having moved to Australia.

There has thus been a transformation in the lives of Kythereans that is captured in the photos.

Ms Williamson (as of November 2007), has placed 60+ of her photographs on kythera-family. Search under Williamson.
