In Memory of my Late Father in Law who died very young and whom I never met, and his brother, Uncle Arthur, who died at the ripe age of 92.)
Cumberland Cafe was operated by Cosma and Arthur Psaltis (Protopsaltis) who had migrated in Australia in the early 1920's
Situated in Church Street, between Murray Bros and the Post Office, at the time, Cumberland Cafe was 'The Place' to dine in the Parramatta area, and indeed among the best in Sydney. Up-Market touches included silver cutlery and flower vases in every table, and gramophone music, from the office at the Mezzanine floor. The Café was famous for the lavish meals, bread and butter puddings and trifles.
