As a non-profit institution, the activities of the Kythera Cultural Association are entirely dependent on financial and other sponsorship from the public and private sectors. The association receives no financial support from the Municipality of Kythera, nor has it for the past three years.
Gratitude for sponsorship and services received to date is due to many individuals and organisations, but what follows is a list of our major sponsors.
Costas Spiliadis, founder of the famous Milos Restaurants of Montreal, New York and Athens, has since its inception been the sole sponsor of the Milos / Kythera Photographic Encounters Annual Prize for the Best Greek Photographic Book of the year; the prize is now in its fourth year.
Angelo and John Notaras of Sydney, Australia have generously sponsored the Kythera Photographic Archive, providing us with essential tools and equipment (see “News and Activities: 20 February 2006”).
Manoli Charos and his family, owners of the Spitia Vassili development in Kapsali, have provided the guests of the Kythera Photographic Encounters with luxurious accommodation every autumn since 2002.
The Greek Ministry of Culture has sponsored the Photographic Encounters on some years, but not others.
The Prefecture of Piraeus (Nomarchia Peiraios) has since last year sponsored publication of the Photographic Encounters catalogue.
Costa Pilavachi has been a regular sponsor since 2002.
kythera-family.net and their team in Australia and Europe have been close associates since the earliest days of both organisations.
Other sponsors have included civil engineers R.C.Tech, Cerigo Car, Panayotis Rent-a-Car, Afroditi Apartments and Hotel Venardos.
FRIENDS OF THE KYTHERA CULTURAL ASSOCIATION
Those interested in promoting the activities of the Kythera Cultural Association are invited to subscribe to the Friends Association with an annual subscription of 30 or 60 euros. Subscriptions are currently devoted to making up shortfalls in the annual budget, but there are plans to devote the greater part of the income to funding a new Friends of the KCA annual prize for a young Greek photographer
