life story:
John joined the Greek navy and went to America in 1899. He settled in Philadelphia, and opened a small store selling olive oil, nuts and dried fruit and other commodities. In about 1913 John sold his share of the family business to his other partners, his brothers Dimitri and Haralambos. He returned to Greece and opened a factory in Crete, conserving fruit and vegetables, which he exported to different countries, even to Australia.
