Life story:Born as Theodoros Pastos. At some stage changed his family name to Andartes (his father's nickname). Trained as engineer. Went to Egypt to work on Suez Canal. Subsequently went to Isthmia, Corinthias GR to work on Corinth Canal which was opened in 1896. Reputedly in charge of work force doing canal maintenance.
First saw future wife, Magdeleni Xydi in Nafplion. Settled in Isthmia and had 9 children.
