Next Walks Wednesday 06 August: Diakofti Salt Lakes
Trail: 2,6 km
Duration: 3 hours
Difficulty: Medium
Starting point: Small Diakofti pier,
next to Coffee “Minas
A relatively small but impressive way along the rocky shoreline Diakofti, which ends in natural salt ponds collection. Along the way we will have the opportunity to observe the dark limestone of the Upper Cretaceus (65 million years), and the pale marly limestone of the Pliocene (2-4 million years).
The section of the route with pale marly limestone is actually an impressive paleo- seabed with rich fossilized marine fauna.
Remarks: At the end of the route there is a section with sharp rocks, so sturdy shoes are required.
