merrickley

My great grandfather was George Merrickley who came to Australia last century as a merchant seaman. When he settled here he worked in a fish shop we think, in Newtown. I have noted with interest a listing on the 1916 census for a - "John Merrickley, fish hawker @ Peteresham". Does anyone know of his family and/or history? As we have had very little success in finding out anything of George's life before he left Greece I believe that it may be a solid lead. If not, I think it's too much of a coincidence to not be of interest.
