AWARDS

May 1998:

The Archdiocese of the Greek Orthodox Church of Australia awarded Hugh Gilchrist the Gold Cross of St Andrew.

June 2003:

The Australian Hellenic Council conferred the prestigious Niki Award on Hugh Gilchrist, in recognition of his significant contribution to Greek Australian relations.

26th January, 2005:

ORDER OF AUSTRALIA

Medal (OAM) in the General Division.

"For service to the community, particularly as a historian of Australian-Greek relations and through support for the work of the Australian Archaeological Institute at Athens".

December 29th, 2005:

The Plenary of the Academy of Athens awarded Ambassador Hugh Gilchrist with the Silver medal, in recognition of his outstanding achievement in the publication of a three-volume work entitled Australians and Greeks.
