This 7-million-year-old marine animal belongs to the phylum Echinodermata, which means ‘spiny skinned'. Modern day echinoderms include starfishes, sea-urchins and sand-dollars, and are plentiful on Kythera. This specimen was found on the road between Frilingianika and the airport. Photograph ©Peter B.
