Japanese culture in Gerovassiliou Wine Museum

At the screning of Panayiotis Rappas "The Fountain of Youth" - a film based on Lafcadio Hearn's life story

The event was superbly organized by the Gerovassiliou Wine Museum. It was very successful - dedicated as it was to Japanese culture.

Saturday, 5 November, the great grand-child of Japan's national poet of Greek origin, Lafcadio Hearn, presented to the public, the life of Hearn in different parts of the world, his open mind and his Greek spirit. Bon Koizumi's lecture ended with a screening of the new animated short film of Panayiotis Rappas "The Fountain of Youth". The movie is based on Lafcadio Hearn's homonymous story. In parallel, an exhibition of Lefkadio Hearn's books was hosted by the collector Takis Eustathiou.

Sunday, 6 November, 2011, was dedicated to Japanese cuisine. The team of the well-known Japanese chef Matsuhisa created a unique dinner of high gastronomic quality for 60 guests. Gerovassilou wines accompanied the dishes harmoniously. The ambience of the Museum's interior, complimented the occasion ideally.

We can only hope that the remainder of the decade will continue with equally interesting "Hearn" events.
