The 2nd International Symposium of Kytheraismos was held Sept. 15-17, 2006 at the beautiful Hellenic Club in Canberra, Australia.

Emanuel "O Marmaras" Comino presents his talk on the Parthenon Marbles stolen by Lord Elgin and taken to the British Museum. The English brig, the Mentor, sank near the entrance to Avlemonas harbour in Kythera in 1802 whilst carrying one of the first shipments of sculptures to England. The sculptures were eventually salvaged.
Former President of the Kytherian Association of Australia (NSW), Peter Vanges, addresses the symposium on the topic "Who was the first Kytherian in Australia?" Peter is the author of the landmark work, "Kythera: A history of the island of Kythera and its people".
