Katerina Mageros was born in the mountain village of Drimonas on the island of Kythera in March 1907.

At age 21 she married Minas Mageros from the same village. They established a home in the village, and had two boys, Panayiotos & Manolis.

In 1937, Minas migrated to Australia. Katerina followed in 1952. The whole family worked hard in various businesses.

In time Katerina became the proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

She recently celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by her family and friends at the Saint Nicholas Nursing Home in South Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

Hello, I was so thrilled to see this picture. I think that Katerina could have been my grandfather's sister-in-law. My grandfather came to the US probably around 1917 and later Minas went to Australia. Perhaps Minas was considerably older than Katerina. My grandfather was Emanuel Mageros, he was also from the village of Drimonas. He married Paska Mazarakis and they two children My father Peter Mageros and his brother Thomas. Both Peter and Thomas are deceased. We had a visit from Michael Mageros several years ago. I would love to reconnect with him. Please pass my email to any relative that would like to correspond with me. My name is Pascalia Mageros Boukis. I live in Cleveland Ohio and have 4 children. My email address is [email protected]
