This wedding portrait celebrates the marriage of Andonis Pentopoulos to Efrosini Aroney. The wedding took place at St Thomas’ Church in Port Macquarie on the 16th December in 1942. For this portrait they caught a taxi after the wedding ceremony to nearest photographers studio in Kempsey.
At the time of their wedding, Andonis had just completed his army training and was about to leave for Darwin where he would be stationed for the duration of the war with an army transport company. For the ceremony Andonis wore his army uniform and Efrosini’s wedding dress was purchased with war coupons, hence the conservative amount of fabric.
