one of the little churches in paliochora ...E KEIRA TOU FOUROU.... and it is still used today for a church service on the 24th august , great way to view paliochora and the church service on that morning , followed by a morning tea outside the church within the settlement .paliochora is one of the main essence of the island and must be protected at all costs ...

this very old church is near palochora , it can be reached by a dirt road from the potamo to agia pelagia road , agios kosmas has wonderful views of palochora and mainland greece, if you enter the church . you can still see some painted frecos on its walls ...

just past livadi and high on the mountain is agia ellessa ,she celebrates on the 1st of august with a magnificent panayari , from there you have spectacular views of the lower west of the island ... agia ellessa would be one of the most significent churches of the island and as you can see from this photo truly a lovely church..go light a candle and say a little prayer .. and maybe stay for the sunset it will take your breath away ...

if you turn left at the hospital at potamos and proceed down the narrow road , you will arrive at one of the most delightful villages on the island .... TRIFYLLIANIKA ..and in the little square is agios jannis... [st. john church ]... . if you are on kythera in late august on the 28th , it has a lovely church service in the morning followed by a morning tea by all the church goers in the square outside the church and everybody is welcomed greek or tourists , ...if you visit the village at another ...
