After our grandfather, Theo Andronicos from Potamos, died in 1948, all contact with the Kytherian side of our family was lost. In 1982 when the opportunity came to take a trip to Europe, I jumped at the chance to include Kythera in our itinerary. We stayed in Livardi and Valerios was our taxi driver during our five day stay. On one of our excursions he stopped his taxi and suggested we take a photograph of our three year old daughter sitting on a donkey that was tethered by the roadside.
